DiscoverSTEM programs are designed to create next generation of Einsteins and Newtons. Started as free STEM and Innovation classes in 2016 by Mirza Faizan, an accomplished aerospace scientist who immigrated to USA on coveted 'Einstein Visa' for his innovations and contributions to global aerospace industry. For his passion for mentoring and innovation, even today every enrolled kid is directly mentored by him.

Our programs are designed to nurture creativity and innovation. 'DiscoverSTEM Innovation Program' is the only program in the world which boasts of taking a 10-year old and converting him into an innovator of patent-able systems. In last 2 year alone, we have mentored around 70+ patent applicants, winning 44+ global innovation competition titles, mostly conducted at NASA and 40+ of our young inventors have been featured in national and international print and electronic media.

We are now offering 3 programs of various duration as mentioned below. There is no open enrollment to our programs, except summer camp. We accept kids after interview and an interesting creativity test only.

PROGRAM DETAILS: This is 3-hours per session (Mon-Fri) program offered during summer vacations only. This program consists of eight thought-provoking modules aimed towards training their mind for a structured thought process towards problem solving. These modules are delivered through engaging lectures, discussions, brainstorming and activities. These modules are:

  1. Introduction & Team Building (week 1)

  2. Introduction to Innovation (week 2)

  3. Introductions to Patents (week 3)

  4. How to think like an Innovator? Asking right questions and finding right answers (week 4)

  5. Brainstorming & Persuasion (week 5)

  6. The logic of scientific discovery (week 6)

  7. Establishing ‘Research Problem Statements’ (week 7)

  8. Research Techniques / Dividing a complex problem (week 8)

These modules are our foundation course and a precursor for anyone to become an innovator. They inculcate THINKING, REASONING, ANALYZING,  BRAINSTORMING, CREATING & INNOVATING skills. After the completion of course, the students will be mentored on how to continue honing the skills learned during this program and how to keep thinking like an innovator.

DURATION: 4-8 weeks (flexible duration to accommodate your  summer schedule)

TIME COMMITMENT:  3-hour /day (3-5 days a week)

PLEASE NOTE:

* Each module can be taken independently in the order it is listed. We've designed  this program to make sure those traveling during the holidays don't miss anything. They can rejoin and start from where they've left. However, the certificates of program completion will be awarded when entire modules are completed.

* Students enrolled separately will be put in a team of 5 to 10 kids. This helps in team-building, communication skills, brainstorming and shares workload during research & innovation.

CERTIFICATE: A certificate will be awarded by DiscoverSTEM after successful completion of entire modules. View sample certificate HERE

ADMISSION: Open enrollment subject to availability of seats.

PROGRAM DETAILS: This is a 6-8 months long program offered on weekends OR weekday evenings. This programs aims to inculcate THINKING, REASONING, ANALYZING,  BRAINSTORMING, CREATING & INNOVATING skills. During this program we not only teach them the nitty-gritty of innovation, but we put their knowledge to test. They are expected to identify a world's problem and innovate a viable and patent-able solution to that problem. Once  a team comes up with an innovation, we file a complementary patent application with United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) mentioning each team member as an inventor. Modules in this course includes eight foundation course modules (taught in summer camp) plus eight implementation modules. Those who join after completion of summer camp are exempted from foundation course modules.

  1. Introduction & Team Building

  2. Introduction to Innovation

  3. Introductions to Patents

  4. How to think like an Innovator? Asking right questions and finding right answers

  5. Brainstorming & Persuasion

  6. The logic of scientific discovery

  7. Establishing ‘Research Problem Statements’

  8. Research Techniques / Dividing a complex problem

  9. Identifying a world problem to solve

  10. Identifying innovation opportunities to solve these problems

  11. Ideating and proposing solutions

  12. Analyzing Technical & Economical feasibility of proposed solution

  13. Testing & Refining the solution

  14. Presentation & Communication Skills

  15. How to keep the skills learned during the program

  16. How to keep Innovating

DURATION: 6-8 months

TIME COMMITMENT: 2-hours session per week and 15-minutes of research and thought provoking assignments per day.

PLEASE NOTE:

* Although approximately 100% of our students are able to innovate before this program ends, in by any chance a student is not able to come up with a patent-able innovation, they'll have to repeat last 8 modules again to come up with an innovation.

* Students enrolled separately will be put in a team of 5 to 10 kids. This helps in team-building, communication skills, brainstorming and shares workload during research & innovation.

MID TERM (6-8 months)

DiscoverSTEM Innovation Program (DIP)

PROGRAM DETAILS: Over last 3 years, many of our students were successful in bagging a seat at top US universities like Harvard, Stanford, Duke etc. We've mentored them for years and have acquired knowledge of what it takes to get into top universities and scholarships. We are now offering this expertise to mentor our students for selection in top-10 universities in US.

DURATION: 4-5 years. Students enrolled in 7th and 8th grades in current academic calendar are only eligible to apply for this program.

TIME COMMITMENT: 5-hour per week (all activities combined)

MODULES: Apart from some common modules, we make custom modules and plans based on extensive interaction with the student and parents to know their career plans and interests. Based on this we devise the best preparation strategy for an individual. Once we are on, we then mentor kids and take them through the whole nine yards to cover each and every aspects of selection in top universities.

Some of the common activities we take students in this program are:

1. Mentor them to be a serial innovator with at least 1 new patent application each year. In 5 years of training, student will have  exposure to various research problem statements and experience in researching and innovating on these problems. They'll have 5 patent applications on their profile by the time they'll start applying to colleges.

2. Involve them with non-profit organizations of their interest and mentor them to take leadership positions. This teaches them to positively impact life of people in their neighborhood, city, state and country.

INTAKE: 30 students / year

ADMISSION: There is no direct admission in this program. Admission to this program is only after successful completion of DiscoverSTEM Innovation Program (DIP) and exhaustive selection cum discussion process.
